Max G30LE won’t charge

Ninebot Max G30LE won’t charge
Howdy Ninebot enthousiasts.
Me and a mate bought a Ninebot as a fix up project. We got it for a good price and wanted to see if we can get it working.
The scooter doesn’t charge.
It turns on when we connect the charger and the BMS light flashes blue rapidly, about twice per second.
When the charger is disconnected the BMS light flashes blue about once per second.
The scooter has a original(?) controller with the following text on it:
Make: LuZhiYao type: kickscooter MAX.
When the unit turns on the controller has a red light that burns steadily.
It connects to the Segway app and no errors are shown.
Software versions are:
Master: 1.7.0
BLE: 1.1.7
BMS: 1.5.8
