G30 Max stock BMS (48V upgrade)

Postby Mou Mon Jan 02, 2023 12:26 pm

Hey guys!

I'm asking for help with an additional battery pack. Recently, I created an external 12V battery pack (3S with a bit higher capacity than the stock 36V battery) from 18650 controlled by BMS (shorturl.at/fvzDU).

I've connected this battery pack into series with the stock battery and got approx 52V (fully charged).

Now, I have an issue. After a few meters, it just shut down with no warning or anything. I'm getting 40 at the freewheel with no error or shutdown. Shutdown occurs only when the scooter is loaded.

I've tried to exchange BMS for a battery pack but it has the same issue.

When is stock 36V battery connected, the scooter works as normal.

SW was flashed to one with a 48V battery mod.

it shut down after short period of riding right? Use scootbatt to monitor amps changes while riding (you could do screen video recording at the amps reading page while riding) and see does it exceed 30amps for too long, cuz stock battery only allow over 30amps for 10sec I think, u might needa upgrade the whole battery to 48v if u wanna ride it over amps or just lower the curve amps and raise acceleration boost to 100%

For G30 single motor, 36v or 48v, I personally set 12A at Eco, 15A at D, and 18A at S with 100 acceleration boost and its already more than enough~

It's excellent that you've added a custom battery pack, but the fact that it shuts down when under strain is really frightening. Since the factory battery works correctly, there could be a configuration mismatch or a problem with the extra BMS not handling the load effectively when combined with your setup. Have you examined the current limits of your BMS? It may also be worthwhile to try with an alternative BMS capable of handling higher loads, as well as conduct some experiments to see whether the problem is related to overcurrent protection. Good luck, and I hope you can figure it out!
